WELCOME
TO BROXBOURNE TENNIS CLUB |
| Our
Tennis Club is a section of Broxbourne Sports Club, a Community
Amateur Sports Club, We are a non profit organisation, run by
volunteer members. All our income is ploughed back into maintaining
and improving our facilities. |
|
We have 4 coaches and our head coach, Mike Seymour will be able
to direct you to a group or individual session which is right
for you. You can join in with the coaching sessions as a non
member paying extra at each session, but this does not allow
you to use the courts and other facilities at any other time. |
| Why
not pay the annual membership fee? These run from April to April,
but if you join part way through the year there is a list of
Pro Rata subscription costs when you click on “Join Now”
and download the pdf file. |
| As
a member you can come along at almost any time and use the courts
and floodlights at no extra cost. Playing just once a week for
a lesson you may have often forgotten what you learnt the previous
week. You could come and have a hit with other members on your
course and practice what you have learnt the week before. |
| This
also does wonders to help develop your hand eye co-ordination
and improve your ball skills. Talk to your coach about whether
it would be appropriate for you to join in with the social tennis
sessions on Saturday afternoon, Tuesday evening or the ladies
Friday / Tuesday morning sessions. These are great sessions
to get to know other members and make friends. There are also
organised fours on weekday evenings called “Rotas”.
|
| You
can join these and you will be given a list of the dates on
which you have been picked to play. If you can’t play
on your allocated evening you find a replacement from the list
of other members who have elected to play on the rotas. Or you
can just make up a four and have a bit of fun amongst yourselves. |
| If
it’s your scene you can join in the many competitions
that are organised. Check out the notice boards and website.
You may wish to play in the inter club matches which occur throughout
the winter and summer, for doubles and singles. Team members
organise their own practice sessions. |
| There
are many other benefits of being a member. You can join in the
social events organised by both the tennis section and the Sports
Club. Or just come along for a drink at the bar at any time.
The main Sports Club building contains toilets and showers for
our use. The Tennis Pavilion is open when the tennis courts
are busy. |
| Why
not give it a go. We are a friendly bunch once you get to know
us. |
