The growth of the club has allowed a number of cricket-oriented developments to complement facilities that are among the best in the county. Winter training is held at the state-of-the-art HECC cricket centre on Sundays between 7-8pm. Five lanes, video technology and a full-time grade-three coach provides a platform for players to genuinely improve their games, be that with bat, ball, in the field or sport-specific fitness. The same structure is used in the summer where training is held at the Cricket Club on Tuesday nights from 6.30pm - 8.30pm, as well as Thursday evenings.
The 1st X1 will be captained by Alex Hislop, who will be aiming to build on a successful 2010 season in division two with a strong senior squad. Steve Humphreys will lead the 2XI in division five with the side now established at this level, Paul Close taking the 3XI reigns in division nine. Chris Rosser will lead the 4XI in division 13.
Complementing the senior teams is the club’s thriving junior section, with over 140 players in squads at U11, U13 and U15 age groups. In 2011 there will be 11 teams from U9’s up to U15’s competing in the Herts Junior Leagues, as well as a number of friendly games. The club’s youth policy is bearing fruit with many now playing in Area and County teams. A number of the current 1st XI have come through the junior section.
